His team may have been ousted from the playoffs after just six games but Max Pacioretty’s spring hasn’t been all bad.
On Thursday, the Montreal Canadiens captain sold his Brossard home for a cool $2 million. The 16,000-square-foot mansion had been on the market since March.
Located in Brossard’s exclusive Domaines de la Rive-Sud neighbourhood, the home boasts four bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, high-tech security system and a “spectacular” wine cellar, according to real-estate agent Joseph Montanaro.
But what sealed the deal, in the end? Was it a signed hockey stick, autographed jersey or primo tickets to a Habs game?
“It was extra furnishings,” said Montanaro, who works with Sotheby’s International Realty. “The buyers are from out of town and they don’t have much furniture. The furniture (at Pacioretty’s house) was beautiful, high-end furniture that was picked to go with the rest of the house. We included several pieces to seal the deal.”
Though the buyers are from abroad, Montanaro says they’ve been living in Montreal for some time and after learning of the Canadiens’ cult status in the city, “they were very impressed that it was Mr. Pacioretty’s house.”
“At every price point, buyers are very picky but at this price point, they have certain expectations,” said Montanaro, who has sold homes for Céline Dion and P.K. Subban. “Houses are very expensive but this was really, a high-quality property. Anyone who knows construction knows that this is as good as it gets. It’s a custom made home.”
Pacioretty, his wife and their children will be moving into a bigger home this summer.
